The Global Talent Visa is for migrants who are deemed by the Home Office to be especially talented in their field of expertise, as evidenced by the fact that they have been endorsed by an approved British endorsing body or that they have won a prestigious prize from a home Office list of approved prizes. 

The relevant fields are in the areas of science, engineering, medicine, humanities, social sciences, digital technology and arts and culture (including film and television, fashion design and architecture). Applicants must be leaders in their field or have the potential to be leaders.

Applications are possible either from outside or within the UK, and leave can be granted for up to five years. There is no English language requirement. Leave can potentially be extended, and settlement is potentially possible after either three years or five years, depending on how the migrant satisfied the criteria to prove their expertise. 

The visa enables the migrant to work in the UK, in any capacity. However, if they want to extend their visa or apply for settlement, they must meet a very simply stated requirement that they have “earned money” in their field of expertise during their period of leave or last period of leave. This looks a very flexible rule and probably many migrants might find ways of meeting it.
